Traveling Together
03:11
|
|||
Well, darlin'
we've been married for a long time
So far we've stuck together
come what may
And though we lack the pay
to travel very far away
I roam these city streets with you
every single day
CHORUS:
Down the road of life we travel
From beginning to the end
Knowing not what might unravel
Or what lies beyond the bend
But wherever it may take us
Together we will be
'Cause we're traveling together
Holding hands
Just you and me
Well, I'm not sure
what's comin' up tomorrow
I can barely keep up
with what's goin' down today
But I know who holds the keys
to all of life's uncertainties
And I know He'll give us guidance
as we go along our way

My Place
04:25
|
|||
(1) One cool October day
As I was walkin' along the riverside
I saw a young girl
And she looked oh so fine
Her eyes met mine
And she had a gaze of mystery
And a tender smile
That made me want to make her mine
(2) I paused for a moment
Just wond'rin' what to say to her
To start a conversation
And sorta break the ice
I was afraid
That she might slip away from me
And the deep regret
I'd feel would not be very nice
(3) I mustered up some courage
And walked toward this lovely girl
Still not quite sure of
the words that I should say
As I approached her
I started trembling nervously
But I bit the bullet
And blurted these words anyway
CHORUS:
Where are you goin', girl?
It's not good to be wand'rin' aimlessly
If you're just wastin' time
Consider wastin' some with me
But if you're goin' to my place
Goin' to my place
I'd be glad to go along with you
What a strange coincidence
I'm headed for my place too
(4) She looked at me awkwardly
And I gave her a sheepish grin
And then she said to me
"What planet are you from?"
I told her "Mars"
And we both started laughing
Now the ice was broken
And quickly she warmed up to me
(5) As we stood there talking
She told me, "I've been watching you
Yeah, I've been watching
And waiting patiently
I want to wake up with you
For the next ten thousand mornings
Why don't we just get married
And make a life, just you and me?"
CHORUS:
Where are you goin', girl?
It's not good to be wand'rin' aimlessly
If you're just wastin' time
Consider wastin' some with me
But if you're goin' to my place
Goin' to my place
I'd be glad to go along with you
What a strange coincidence
I'm headed for my place too

Thorns and Blossoms
02:56
|
|||
A dear friend has died
and it seems so unfair
I'm hurting inside
when I don't find her there
I can't help but think
she picked the wrong day to die on
But I just need a shoulder to cry on
Oh, the roses have thorns
but the apples have blossoms
The woods are alive
with squirrels and possums
Oh, the balance of nature
is a glorious thing
The corn grows in summer
when the rain falls in spring
For each one who dies
a new baby is born
When each night is past
then we welcome the morn
Rejoice in each day
Make the most of each hour
And live while you still have the power
Oh, the roses have thorns
but the apples have blossoms
The woods are alive
with squirrels and possums
Oh, the balance of nature
is a glorious thing
The corn grows in summer
when the rain falls in spring

Autumn Breeze
03:24
|
|||
Autumn breeze, soft and sweet,
Tossing leaves so they tumble at my feet;
Birds fly south in migration,
Quite oblivious to our situation --
How I wish I could fly!
Oh, how grand just to soar in the sky,
Unencumbered by gravity, floating on air,
And seemingly void of all care.
Autumn breeze, harvest moon,
Stark reminders that winter's coming soon;
It won't be long before snow is in the air,
And white will replace all these colors everywhere --
Oh, our lives are so brief,
Fraught with change, disappointment and grief;
Add bereavement and loss to our frenzy-paced days,
And all meaning gets lost in a haze.
Autumn breeze, may your beauty remain all year long,
Amid gladness and sorrow;
Were it not for the beautiful things in this world,
We might all be despairing tomorrow!
Autumn breeze, gently blow,
Take my heart closer to long ago,
When the world was a simpler place;
Now I'm wishing that I could erase
The annoying distractions that plague us today --
Autumn breeze, please don't blow away.

Father's Prayer
03:50
|
|||
Twenty-some-odd years ago
we brought home a baby boy
Well, he was quite a character
but he brought us lots of joy
We were with him as he grew
and we gave him lots of love
And we taught him about Jesus
and His everlasting love
Oh, we thought he might become a doctor
or an artist, but oh no
He graduated high school
and off to college he did go
For he found a higher calling
in the ministry of the Lord
He's preparing to do battle
with the Bible as his sword
He gains from life's experiences
Not all of them are good
But from each one, he learns a lesson
As all God's children should
Great relationships eluded him
'til a year ago last spring
He got together with a nice young lady
and at Christmas, he gave her a ring
CHORUS:
I pray for my daughter-in-law
and I pray for my son
I ask Thee, Lord, for blessings
on this life they've just begun
Please guide them with Thy Spirit
Hold them with Thy tender care
Dear Lord, this is my humble father's prayer
Dear Lord, sometimes I worry
if the kids will be okay
I know they're all grown up now
All I can do is pray
And I know I cannot be there
every time the road gets rough
But if there is a cross to bear
Thy grace will be enough
