This song is my personal story about my love for music. I wrote the chorus in 2005 and the verses in 2015.

VERSE 1:
All my life I wanted to be musical
To stand up on a stage and sing a song
Writing my own songs is something magical
The good ones make you want to sing along
Experiences of my own provide a sense of place
And a reference point for the lyrics that I write
Sharing my own story gives me something to embrace
And fuels the fire that’s starting to ignite

CHORUS:
You may say, “Why can’t the legislature
ban songs of an autobiographical nature;
then we won’t have to listen to him no more!”
But you only need half a brain
to realize that I’m not insane
And I’m not the only one who knows the score
Because this old man has finally got it going on

Living in the dream means different things to different people
Here’s my take on that, if you don’t mind (if you don’t mind)
Hanging with my friends brings me joy and great contentment
Making music helps me to unwind
It doesn’t really matter if I make it big or not
As long as I am doing what I love

What greatness I can claim is from above
