about

This song goes back to about 2005, though it was never released until now. I've only performed it once or twice until now. But it's my personal story.

lyrics

VERSE 1:
I’ve been a lover of music
For as long as I can recall
I used to listen intently to the radio
And sing along with the songs
Or pretend to be a DJ
I started writing some songs of my own
And that made me feel ten feet tall
But never in my wildest dreams did I ever believe
Many people would want to hear them anyway

Boy was I wrong
I don’t know why it took me so long
To realize I was blessed with a gift
For orchestrating a tune
That gives your spirits a lift

VERSE 2:
Years ago I went off to school
And prepared for work in a church
I studied music and learned to play piano
Then found a sweet little church
Where I played for a long time
There came a day that I had to move on
But just where? I started to search
Then when every door closed it dawned on me
That I was missing part of my calling the whole time

I had some pretty fine songs
And I don’t know why I waited so long
To put together the words and the notes
And let the rest of the world
Hear the songs that I wrote

CHORUS:
’Cause I was born to make music
That speaks to everybody in the whole wide world
It’s a dream that I’ve been waiting for so long
I’m tired of waiting for things to click
So let’s get on the stick
And make good things happen in song

BRIDGE:
Music is a language universal
So they say
So if you have a message you want to convey
It may be the very best way
Music sets the mood for things
Like dinner and romance
So why shouldn’t I
Give music a chance?

CHORUS:
I was born to make music
That speaks to everybody in the whole wide world
It’s a dream that I’ve been waiting for so long
I’m tired of waiting for things to click
So let’s get on the stick
And make good things happen in song

Make good things happen
Good things happen
Good things happen in song
